Message: Mon Dieu! What a lovely surprise to look at all these gorgeous photos and roses before facing the more mundane chores of the day. Butterfly, you are phenomenal! Tammy, how many dogs do you have? Lucky you! Here's hoping the fires will abate in S. Barbara.

Message: Does Butterfly wrap the banana peel around the bottom of the bush or cut it up in pieces ? Does she do this for other plants as well, including indoor plants ?
She cuts the peels into pieces and puts them into the dirt beneath the rose bushes - roses only!

Message: wait till someone asks you to name the roses, then you're in trouble. nameless is better anyway. they are lovely.

Message: Really neat garden, flowers and nice looking gardener, have always read a garden should be made like your walking from one rm. to another, looks like you've got that down Butterfly...

Message: Your Mom's garden shows a loving, tending hand. What a nice MD tribute to her!
(for those admiring the beautiful roses: roses grow more vigorously when cut back at the end of the dormant season. They need to go rest, then spring forth. Prune hard--cut new canes back to 24" to outside buds, and cut out old canes flush at the base. That way the rose renews itself every year.)
Thanks for sharing this post with us on Mother's Day! I lost my Mom (she was gardening!) almost three years ago, and miss her every day.
