Dog Days
back to Ramblings
We’ve been getting some much needed rain since yesterday, which makes me happy (it’s been way too dry) but makes for some dogs with a bit of cabin-fever. Along with the rain came cooler temperatures. Barney, in particular, hates the cold.
He snuggles right up to the woodstove and practically ignites himself. This cannot be comfortable. He’s lying on bricks, for gosh sakes!
 |
Why are you bothering me?
|
If I say anything to him, like perhaps, “Barney, don’t you think you should move away from the stove before you burst into flames?” I get a look that could kill.
I actually have to beg him to move so that I can add wood to the stove.
If Barney is not snuggled up to the woodstove, it means he’s decided that he reached the boiling point and has moved to a cooler location, one that is definitely more comfortable looking to anyone who sees him.
However, he still seems to resent me taking pictures.

I'm trying to sleep here!

Alright, already … let me bother someone else.

Hellan tries to ignore me
|
Hellan is very warm-blooded and would never get near the woodstove. She prefers, for some reason, to get her head up against this little wooden ladder I have in the corner of the couch. Butterfly found it a thrift shop and thought it would make good garden art, which it would. I, however, set it by the couch and it’s never left. It’s so convenient for a glass of wine, the remote control, reading glasses, etc., that I think it’s just going to stay there.

Think I can hide under this ladder?
|
I never fail to marvel at the fact that this dog and I found each other. She is so loving and so funny and made all the misery of that first trip to Hurricane Katrina worth every second.
Lucky is just content to be near me, no matter where I go. And he doesn’t mind how many pictures I take. Lucky me.
The weekend promises to be sunny and warmer which means there will be some happier dogs around Rancho Am Broko. Yippee!
