The Birthday Gift
back to Ramblings

As we wandered through the gardens of The Getty one afternoon, while we were in Los Angeles for a family celebration, Butterfly spied a particular plant and raced over to it.

“That darned Annie Oakley!  She owes me a start of this,” she said.

I asked her to hold a bit of it so I could get a picture, just in case Annie Oakley forgot her promise.

We both forgot about it by the time we returned home and got back into the rhythm of everyday life.

Last week when I announced to the world that it was Butterfly’s birthday, I received this reply from Annie:

“So this is the day!!!!

Enjoy!

I transplanted this for you a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be doing fine but I'll keep it for a few more to keep an eye on it.

Happy Birthday!!!!

Big hug,

Annie Oakley”
